1 . Workshops and seminars
Talofa!
1a.
Nunspeet, October 20 – 22, 2000
On October 20, 21 and 22 Mundo Etnico organizes
a weekend seminar in accomodation centre “Duiventil” in Nunspeet.
During this seminar the dances, songs, games and music from the
educational programme Talofa! will be taught (see book and cd shop).
This is going to be a remarkable weekend. There is not only dancing,
but we’ll also sing Polynesian songs and play Polynesian music
(though you do not have to be able to read music nor play an
instrument). We will also be making dance implements and play
children’s games. All activities are connected to each other. When
we dance about “tinned fish”, for instance, we will also taste a
Samoan dish with tinned fish during one of the meals. The dance
implements that we will make, will also be used in the dances. It is
going to be a busy, creative weekend in which the dance classes by
Lucia Linkels will be accompanied with live music. The programme
brings you many hours of dance and other fun. Not only for children
but also for teenagers and adults. Classes will be in the Dutch
language.

1b.
Dworp (Brussels), October 28 and 29, 2000
The Nunspeet weekend will be repeated in Dworp
near Brussels (Belgium) during the weekend of October 28 and 29.
This weekend is organized by Danskant in Belgium.
1c. Assen, September 30, 2000
The Foundation Folkdance Drenthe (SVD)
organizes a workshop on September 30 in Assen. Part of the
repertoire from Talofa! will be taught during this workshop, that
starts at 1 pm and ends at 5 pm.
1d. Hengelo,
September 23, 2000
Centraal
Dansberaad Overijssel organizes a workshop on September 23 in
Hengelo. Part of the repertoire from Talofa! will be taught during
this workshop, that starts at 1 pm and ends at 5 pm.

2 . Workshops Charlene

Berkeley, California, will teach Polynesian, mainly Hawaiian, dances
during a six hours workshop in Tilburg. The workshop will
be for beginners and advanced. < BR
>
On Sunday, November 5, Charlene will repeat dances that
have been taught during workshops in the previous years. Both
workshops start at 9.45 am and end at 5 o’clock in the

3. New publication: Mele Kalikimaka – Merry
Christmas! In November a
mini-CD including four Hawaiian Christmas-hula, played by Ka Wela
‘Ana, will be published by the Mundo Etnico Foundation. The fifth
track on the CD is a musical Christmas greeting performed by the
Tongan ‘ukulele virtuoso Sione ‘Aleki. This CD can also be used as
Christmas card (see CD shop). The booklet Mele Kalikimaka – Merry
Christmas (ISBN 90-72840-16-x) includes all dance descriptions,
